Uncle @ Ovine!

Who the hell is this Uncle fella?

Hello,

You’re probably wondering who is Uncle, and what is he doing on the Ovine site?  Good question, as you probably haven’t seen my name in any of the credits of the fine games you can download here.  Well I’ve started remaking old games a few years back and still have a couple of projects ongoing  over at www.urbaninteractive.net.  When I was developing some of the these games I came into contact with the Ovine guys, who were really helpful with suggestions and the odd bit of code.  After a while we thought it would be a good idea to work together on some games, and specifically on mobile gaming.   We met in November at the R3play show and had some beers and worked on some ideas.

Over the past few months we have been testing various languages to see which we felt the most comfortable with, and we have found a good fit with monkey.  That’s not to say we won’t use other tools when they are more suited, but monkey seems to be the best fit.  It’s still a very new language and we are busy building a framework to speed up game development.  So far the we have the sprite library, particle library and collision library up and running.  So the basics are in place.  Stu is working on adding some gloss to these.  Already we have 4 ideas which are being developed, so watch this space…
