The Click Convention 2003 :: 13th -14th September
Another year and another convention! This is a get together of many people who use the wonderful Clickteam programs such as Multimedia Fusion (MMF) and Jamagic. This year it was back at The Watermill Hotel in Hemel Hempsted (UK). ![]() Here are some of the visitors as seen from my seat. A good turn out in total, some new as well as old faces present. ![]() Here is Jason Darby, the host for the two day Clickteam convention. No matter how many times I took a photo of this good lookin' guy, it came out blurred. Either he has some high tech equipment to keep his identity secret or my camera likes trying out artistic effects. It could also be because I can't take a photo for toffee. ![]() As well as the large turn out of visitors making the day go with a bang, Clickteam also attended both days. Here we see Francois and David. Yves has managed to dodge the camera this time! ![]() There were plenty of talks and demonstrations. The first was by Francois, demonstrating how the new Multimedia Fusion 2 interface will work. Properties are vastly improved along with a simpler interface that Games Factory users will appreciate. No loss of power or flexibility though. Loads of new features in the runtime too, such as parallax scrolling and alpha channels. There were also some fascinating demonstrations by Clickteam users, Circy demonstrated an excellent two player split screen game of the quality of Mario v Sonic the Hedgehog. We also saw Mequ showcase his Amos converter and emulator. This converts Amos code into Jamagic code and emulates all of the Amos commands such as the copper bar! Dr Ian ofcourse had everyone entertained and Tigerworks wowed the room with the latest version of Terminal Orbit. ![]() Jeff demonstrated his CD-Xtra, a compilation of his music from the 80's (when he had very long hair) and multimedia. This included videos, games and a fancy menu all made with MMF. All talks were inspirational stuff. We also did some unscheduled talks. On Saturday, I unveiled the secret project I have been working on for some time - Spriter, an advanced sprite and tilemap pixel editor. See our Spriter website for more details. On Sunday we showed off our Retro Remakes games as well as a few of the older games you can find on this site. We got a good reaction from both Sacred Armour of Antiriad and Terra Cognita. The Flossy Racer also went down a storm, as did Imogen. Overall a great event. Good to see what everyone is up to and to meet some of our online friends in person again. If you get the chance, make sure you attend 2004's conference. Rumour is that it will be in Paris :) Appologies too to anyone I forgot to mention! |
